“Son, we will be reaching Nalli Silks by 10 AM,” said my father-in-law in phone. I confirmed our presence with a smile and hung the phone. I prayed my mom to wish me good luck for our marriage. “Riti…Riti…” I shouted waiting outside the gate in the car forgetting that I am waiting for Isha, actually, I used to shout for Riti whenever we go out as she always pray her parents for a safe journey before leaving the home, “Sorry… Ish… I shouted,” she dressed up in a saree much like Riti, actually, it was Riti’s saree. As soon as she got into the car, I said, “You are too sexy today,” she blushed. I love the way she blushed, she has something special in that as it mesmerize me heavenly.

“Son, this is our tradition shop as we used to buy dresses for marriages,” said my father-in-law, showing Nalli Silks, “Glad to know about this shop,” I said, went with them inside as our Happy Hours started with the purchase of our marriage clothes. “How this saree,” She exclaimed holding a peacock blue colored saree with peacock design embedded in it. She looked like a cute angel that made me to say yes to that saree, one saree for reception, one for marriage and the other for the most beautiful night (the most beautiful saree I had ever seen in my life, may not be but to me it is).

This followed with variety of saree for her, for her relations and so on. I purchased two, one for Mom, one for Riti, although they are not in this world, I love to buy one for them as it gave me smiles. I bought two traditional wear for me, one for marriage, and other for the most beautiful night. Also for my stupid relations who never stood with me in my tough times, used to smile before my face and speak badly about me behind my face. It consumed eight fun filled hours, “Happy Hours” after a long gap.

Rahul, you’re a fool, why buy for someone long dead or is not around…you are hurting Isha’s feelings in doing so…

seems the big night is also something to prepare for, what with a saree to go with it?

i am learning much from your story about your culture and marriage traditions… :-)
